Virtual Summer Reading 2020

Read books. Track minutes. Get rewarded. 

With the mission to encourage a love of reading in children, High Prairie Municipal Public library is excited to announce the 2020 Virtual Summer Reading Program!! Start date is July 6th 2020 to August 21, 2020

Spend 20 minutes a day reading and earn prizes once your bookshelf is complete. Color to keep track of your progress with a reading log.

Every Monday at 10 AM will be a new online story posted for children to watch and enjoy. 

Every Wednesday at 10 Am will be a fun activity for children.

Week One

Welcome to week one today's story is Little red and the Hungry Lion written by Alex T. Smith

Night time bowling


Six tall, empty bottles

Glow sticks

Optional- a hamster ball to make a glow in the dark bowling ball but any bouncy ball should work.


To make the glowing pins all you have to do is place one or two activated glow sticks into each water bottle and put the lids back on.  You can fill the pins with water if you want.  To make the glowing bowling ball just tape the desired amount of glow sticks to the inside of the hamster ball, put it together ,and secure the side and lid with tape.  That's it!  Then it's time to PLAY!

A is for Alligator The American alligator has a large, dark, slightly rounded body and thick limbs.

B is for Beaver. Beavers are mammals known for their building skills. They use branches, stones, and mud to build structures called dams.

is for Cat. Cat is a small, furry mammal with whiskers, short ears, and a long tail.

is for Dog. Dog is a furry animal with four legs, a pointed nose, and a tail.

is for Elephant. Elephants are the largest living land animals. There are three species, or kinds: the African savanna elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant.
